Shafston University Mansions - RoomShafston University Mansions is purpose built student accommodation located adjacent to the historic grounds of Shafston House. It offers accommodation services to students from all Shafston campuses as well as other Brisbane universities and education providers.

Shafston University Mansions consist of 170 individual apartments designed for the needs and budget of Australian and international students. Students can enjoy single, double or triple room accommodation each with their own bathroom and kitchen. Each apartment is fully furnished.

Shafston University Mansions
Terms And Conditions

  1. Credit card details or bond must be provided on check in.
  2. The holder of the supplied credit card authorises the manager to charge the credit card for any loss, damage or monetary contribution for which the guest or any visitors are liable under this document or otherwise.
  3. Accommodation fees must be paid fortnightly in advance.
  4. Residents must pay their account in full, return keys and check out before 10.30am on day of departure.
  5. No refunds will be given to residents evicted for unacceptable behavior.
  6. A minimum of 7 days written notice must be given to Reception before early check out. Long Term stays must be completed in full.
  7. Early check out will incur a cancellation charge equal to 2 weeks rent. Long Term stays must be completed in full.
  8. A request for a room move must be made in writing and will be considered by the Manager. Room moves will incur a fee. Room moves are not permitted for Long Term stays.
  9. Residents must not hang clothing, signage or other items in a manner visible from the outside of the building.
  10. Residents must not lend their keys or give lift access to another person. Replacement of lost/stolen keys will incur a fee.
  11. Residents must behave in a way as not to interfere with the peaceful enjoyment of another person.
  12. Residents must allow cleaners and maintenance uninterrupted access for the purpose of cleaning and maintenance.
  13. Residents leaving their unit dirty or untidy will be charged for extra cleaning.
  14. Residents must not sublet their unit.
  15. Residents are responsible for costs incurred in the event the QLD Fire & Rescue Service are called due to a fire alarm.
  16. Visitors are not permitted to use bedding or facilities provided for the use of residents.
  17. Residents are responsible for the behavior of their visitors at all times.
  18. Visitors are not permitted in rooms after 10pm.
  19. Visitors staying in the room over night must be registered and paid for by the resident.
  20. Cigarettes, rubbish or any other item must not be thrown from windows or balconies.
  21. Smoking is NOT permitted in the building.
  22. Alcohol is NOT permitted in public areas including foyer, gym and lounge.
  23. Rubbish must be placed only in the "Store" room located on each floor.
  24. The room must not be used for any unlawful purpose.
  25. Damage, loss or removal of any item or fitting must be paid for by the resident.
  26. Bicycles, roller blades or skateboards are not permitted in the building.
  27. Animals or pets are not permitted in the building.
  28. Residency is governed by Shafston University Mansions By-Laws. A copy of the By-Laws is available at reception.

Long Term (12 Weeks Or More)
Terms And Conditions Supplement.

  1. To pay a minimum of twelve (12) or twenty four (24) weeks and Bond prior to commencing my stay.
  2. That the placement fee and accommodation fees are non refundable under any circumstances.
  3. That I cannot move rooms under this arrangement but have the right to inspect the unit prior to the commencement of this contract.
  4. That if I have reserved a Private Room, I cannot change to a twin share room until the end of the long term contract.
  5. To complete my inventory check list and return it within 24 hours of check-in.
  6. To pay for any missing and/or broken items, and any damage incurred during my stay.
  7. I am aware that my room will be inspected prior to the return of my bond.
  8. To leave my room in a clean and tidy state.
  9. To ensure that all cooking and eating utensils are washed dried and put away before I vacate my unit.
  10. To ensure that if I have reserved a Twin share Room, I cannot use the second part of the room.
  11. To pay an extra cleaning fee, if extra cleaning is required because I have not complied with the above three conditions.
  12. To comply with the Shafston University Mansions Terms & Conditions as set out on my Registration Form.
  13. To inform Reception of any damage or breakages as soon as it happens.

Bond Payments
Credit Card Details Or $300.00 Cash (Refundable)
Mastercard or Visa are accepted

All bonds MUST be paid on arrival.


Bond Refunds

Cash bonds will be refunded in full prior to departure on the following conditions:

  1. The room passes a final inspection and is found to be in a satisfactory condition.
  2. All outstanding accounts are paid in full.
  3. The key and security card are surrendered.

 

If a student is leaving before the office is open, the student be required to fill out a Bond-refund Request Form. The appropriate monies will be refunded into a nominated bank account of their choice.

Bank fees associated with the transfers are as follows:
$45.00 International EFT (electronic file transfer)
$5.00 for a transfer into an Australian bank Account.


Cancellation Policy

If notice of cancelling is less than 30 days prior to commencement, a fee $50.00 (plus internet transfers fees*) will apply.

If notice of cancelling is less than 14 days prior to commencement, a fee equalling 1 weeks rent (plus internet transfers fees*) will apply.

A lodgement request for any monies (less admin fees and transfer fees) must be within 60 days of the time of cancellation. A lodgement request for any monies (less admin fees and transfer fees) after 60 days becomes void. Those monies become un-refundable and will be credited to the appropriate unit owner’s account.

*Fees for internet transfers.
$45.00 International EFT (electronic file transfer)
$5.00 for a transfer into an Australian bank Account.
